L'orizzonte alle spalle (“The horizon behind”)

“L’ORIZZONTE ALLE SPALLE” (“THE HORIZON BEHIND”) IS AN ILLUSTRATED FAIRYTALE BOOK THAT SUPPORTS THE CAMPAIGN “QUI SI TRATTA DI ESSERE/I UMANI. STOP AL TRAFFICO DI MIGRANTI” (“IT’S ABOUT BEING HUMAN. STOP MIGRANT TRAFFICKING”)

The main characters of each fairytale are real people that we have met in Sicily, Italy, a few days after their terrible journey through the desert and across the Mediterranean Sea. We have heard them, looking into their eyes, and decided to tell their stories in an singular way: through the fairytale language. We chose this language so that both children and adults will realize how difficult leaving one own's land and facing such an odyssey is. Migrants don't know what they got themselves into. They often don't know the desert or can't swim. They flee from war or are driven by financial difficulties.
